Giving FAQ
For more information contact The Avenue at 920-271-2700 or email us here.
Q. Is my gift to The Avenue tax deductible?
A. Yes, your contribution to 91.1 The Avenue is tax deductible after subtracting the value of any thank-you gifts. 91.1 The Avenue is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Any gift in any amount is always welcome. Your gifts are what help us fulfill our mission of being a voice and presence to the nonprofit community and to build a Community of Generosity.
Q. What is a sustaining gift?
A. Sustain = to support, hold, or bear up from below; bear the weight of, as a structure.
Sustaining gifts are the foundation of ongoing support. When you commit to a sustaining gift, you commit to a regular deduction from your credit card on a monthly or annual basis. A sustaining gift means that you give either a lump sum, or a monthly gift and we continue to take the support in the way you indicated every year. Unlike a one time gift where you give an amount only one time, a sustaining gift continues to occur in the manner you designated until you tell us to discontinue receiving the gift. Just as you depend on a paycheck every week, sustaining gifts help us know what we can count on every week. You can see why sustaining gifts are so important to The Avenue.
Q. Does it matter if I give online or if I call 1-877-508-9191?
A. What really matters is that you give! We make it easy by having an operator standing by to take your pledge at 1-877-508-9191 if that is how you would like to give. Or you can give securely and safely online. We also have a form that you can download online if you prefer to print it out, fill it in and send in your pledge via mail. We appreciate that you take the time to give.
Q. Will I get a thank you gift for my contribution?
A. Everyone who gives will receive our quarterly insider newsletter called AveNews in the mail. We often offer various thank you gifts at different drives. If there is a gift associated with a drive, it will be very clear in your pledge form, or when you call 1-877-508-9191. If there are gifts associated with a drive and you choose to not receive the gift so the entire amount of the gift goes to The Avenue, you will also have a chance to indicate that desire during your pledge. You can expect to receive any thank you gifts indicated in a drive in 6-8 weeks.
Q. I've heard you say that I'm a "Member" once I give. What does that mean?
A. Anyone can be a member, whether they give or not. Of course, we are hoping everyone will do something to help us with our mission and to keep the Timeless Cool music flowing. Being connected to us gives you many opportunities throughout the year to go to events and concerts free or at a reduced price. We know you don't give for that reason, but it really is a nice "perk" that you can do so many fun things with friends and family, brought to you by The Avenue. Don't forget to become a Facebook friend too as there are often contests where you can win things.
Q. Don't you get government funds as part of your funding?
A. No, we do not receive any government funds at The Avenue.
Q. As you give a voice and presence to the nonprofit community, can I designate which nonprofit my gift will go to?
A. We give "Voice and Presence" in a variety of ways. There are ways to directly designate your funds to purchasing a sponsorship schedule for the nonprofit organization you support. When you indicate which organizations or issues are important to you, we work to connect with those organizations and focus on those issues when possible. Some nonprofits receive messaging grants through our Community Grant Fund, which is funded by your gifts. If the nonprofit you recommend is receiving a grant, we would be happy to designate your dollars to that nonprofit. We are also willing to talk to any nonprofit you recommend to see if they quality for a Community Partner grant.
Q. The Avenue has my email and contact information. Do you ever exchange contributor's names?
A. No, we don't sell, trade or share your information with anyone else. You're part of the family and we have your back!
Q. What is "Voice and Presence"?
A. We support the nonprofit community in a variety of ways including on-air mentions, community web connections, live appearances, Aveblast and newsletter stories.
